We are seeking a highly experienced
Graphic Object Developer
to support Army University Press (AUP) by creating and refining publication-quality maps, charts, photographs, illustrations, and other visual objects for digital and print products.
The ideal candidate combines advanced production design skills with meticulous accuracy, source control, and knowledge of publication standards to transform draft material into clear, professional graphics suitable for Army audiences.
Responsibilities
Create and revise approximately 30–60 graphic objects per month for digital and print publications
Convert draft maps, charts, briefing slides, photographs, and author-provided content into polished graphics
Build original maps, charts, graphics, and illustrations using Adobe Creative Cloud applications
Refine photographs for clarity, resolution, composition, and color and prepare final photographs in TIFF format
Prepare maps and charts in Adobe Illustrator with accurate labels, orientation, keys, names, and geographic placement
Apply doctrinal military symbols in accordance with current Army terminology and symbology guidance
Verify spelling, legibility, visual comprehension, copyright status, source attribution, and required file formats
Deliver graphics within required timelines and maintain organized project files for archival preservation
Support weekly and monthly production reporting and Government coordination
Required Qualifications
Degree in graphic design, graphic development, or a directly related field
Five to ten years of experience developing graphic objects for digital and physical publications
Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud and a variety of digital image formats
Demonstrated ability to create maps, charts, graphics, and illustrations
Ability to refine and enhance maps, charts, and photographs to publication standards
Strong attention to detail, visual accuracy, file organization, copyright compliance, and deadlines
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1 suitability determination
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting military, historical, academic, or Government publications
Knowledge of Army operational terms, military symbols, and cartographic conventions
Experience preparing production files for both print and accessible digital publication
Experience supporting Army University Press or a comparable publishing organization
