Commerce, Data & Identity (CDI) provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.

The CDI group is responsible for orchestrating the customer flow and integrating with various other backend services during signups for Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. We own and support many tier-1 services that need to be highly available in all regions. We are a fast-paced and fast-growing team, where you will have influence over the technical direction and architecture for the services and tools built by the team. You will also have an opportunity to learn about the international landscape and challenges in the area of billing, payments, subscriptions, offers, and promotions as our streaming services launch around the world over the next few years.

We are responsible for developing and operating The Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer video businesses globally, including Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. Responsibilities:

Be responsible for tier-1 services that power hundreds of millions of end-users
Own tech design for various initiatives and projects that impact the commerce business and end-user experiences
Help shape the commerce platform with new capabilities and improvements that accelerate our business.
Be involved in code and architecture reviews for team members
Participate in Agile methodology and SCRUM processes such as Sprint Planning
Backlog grooming, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives with the team
Collaborate with peers and cross-functional partners to disambiguate, de-risk, and solve business problems
Provide on-call support for critical services on a rotational basis
Own features/functionality and deliver projects end-to-end with high quality and robust architecture

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of related experience crating and coding backend services
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
Proven track record of driving impact
Experience in backend server-side development for tier-1 services
Expertise in at least one language on the JVM
Experience working with cloud providers
Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL)
Experience investigating technical components and taking ownership of feature development

The hiring range for this position in New York City is $148,700 - $199,400. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
