Most importantly, our exceptional employee retention rate reflects a culture of professional growth, mission focus, and dedication—ensuring long-term stability and expertise for our customers’ critical needs.Job SummarySeeking a Database Engineer to provide technical expertise in database design, development, implementation, administration, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysisThe successful candidate will support database engineering throughout the system development lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC)This role requires strong Oracle database administration experience, Linux expertise, and the ability to design and optimize database solutions that balance performance, security, scalability, retention, and mission requirementsPrimary ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, implement, and maintain relational and/or object-oriented databasesDevelop database parser software, database loading tools, scripts, and supporting utilitiesDefine and document database requirements from project inception through system acceptance and IOCDevelop database structures that align with overall system architecture and mission requirementsEvaluate and balance database design considerations including data volumes, user loads, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention requirements, security, and domain controlsProject long-range database administration, capacity, performance, and design requirementsAnalyze and recommend database and system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance activitiesDevelop, maintain, and optimize ad hoc queries, scripts, macros, tables, and data-processing workflowsCreate and update queries used to manipulate, aggregate, and transform data into master datasets or operational data productsDesign and maintain database interfaces using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and related technologiesSupport database storage, retrieval, and processing using cloud-based methodologiesInstall, configure, patch, troubleshoot, and maintain Oracle database environmentsAdminister and support Oracle Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Data GuardPerform database performance tuning, monitoring, backup, recovery, replication, and availability managementSupport Linux-based database environments using Linux commands and Bash scriptingCollaborate with systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, architects, and mission stakeholdersSupport database testing, system integration, acceptance testing, and deployment readinessRequired QualificationsMust have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope PolygraphDemonstrated experience with database architecture, engineering, administration, and developmentExtensive hands-on experience installing, configuring, and patching:Oracle DatabaseOracle Enterprise ManagerOracle Data GuardStrong experience with relational database design, schema development, and data modelingExperience developing and optimizing complex database queriesExperience with database performance tuning, monitoring, backup, recovery, and high-availability conceptsStrong Linux operating system experienceProficiency with Linux commands and system utilitiesExperience developing and maintaining Bash scriptsExperience translating system and data requirements into database designs and technical solutionsAbility to evaluate database trade-offs involving performance, scalability, data retention, security, and distributionExperience supporting databases through development, integration, testing, and operational deploymentDesired QualificationsExperience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologiesExperience with cloud-based database services and architecturesExperience with ODBC and enterprise database integrationDatabase automation and infrastructure scriptingExperience supporting highly available, mission-critical database environmentsExperience with database security, access controls, and data-domain separationExempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
