Senior Firmware Development Engineer Job Locations NL-Rotterdam Job ID 2026-22998 Category Engineering Overview We are hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer with expertise in cryptography, security, embedded systems , Linux, RTOS and device drivers to join our Silicon IP D evelopment team located in The Netherland . Applicants must be familiar with embedded software development processes, methodologies, and tools and must possess strong coding skills and individual technical accomplishments. This position involves work on a wide range of projects related to all areas of embedded system development, including on-chip firmware development, driver development, application development, and development of hardware abstraction modeling, internal software tools used for testing and verification of hardware and software. Rambus offers a flexible work environment , embracing a hybrid approach for most office-based roles . E mployees are encouraged to spend an average of at least three days per week onsite , allowing for two days of remote work . Responsibilities Specify, develop, deploy, benchmark and maintain embedded security software Perform hands on development and be responsible for timely documentation and reviews Analyze and refactor existing software whenever necessary to enhance its reliability, performance, supportability, and operability Coordinate testing, packaging, deployment and delivery of software and production data in a secure environment Collaborate with other engineers on code reviews, internal infrastructure, and adhere to software development methodologies Collaborate with cross functional teams to define product architecture and solutions Qualifications 5 - 8 years of relevant professional engineering experience BS/MS in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related degree preferred . Experience and high degree of competency in all of the following areas: C++ object-oriented design concepts, including core libraries, design patterns, encapsulation, polymorphism, inheritance Experience with machine code/assembly code implementation and debug Hardware abstraction / hardware modeling Experience with an agile software development lifecycle including design, development, testing and support Linux Cryptography and security knowledge Experience with multi-threaded, high-volume, real-time transaction processing Nice to have: Nice to have experience in hardware modeling with SystemC/TLM 2.0 Linux device driver development Linux host application development About Rambus Rambus is a global company that makes industry-leading memory interface chips and Silicon IP to advance data center connectivity and solve the bottleneck between memory and processing.
