ngineering teams and clients depend on every day. This manager sets a high bar for infrastructure reliability, deployment velocity, and operational discipline — building a team culture where automation is the default, manual work is treated as a problem to be solved, and every

ngineer on the team is actively leveraging AI to work faster, diagnose issues more accurately, and build infrastructure that operates intelligently at scale.
This is
a hands-on technical leader who coaches
E
ngineers on infrastructure engineering craft, drives AI adoption into daily DevOps workflows, holds the team accountable for the reliability and performance of the systems they own, and partners with
E
ngineering,
S
ecurity, and
P
roduct teams to ensure cloud operations are a source of competitive advantage — not a constraint on what engineering can deliver.
Starting base pay for this role is between $145,000 and $185,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will be eligible for a bonus as well as competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, wellness reimbursement, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. We offer vacation and sick leave benefits (under a flexible time off policy in most states).

Conduct

structured performance reviews that recognize strong operational contributions, address delivery or quality gaps with support and specificity, and develop team members who are growing in both AI tooling fluency and foundational infrastructure engineering depth.
Identif
ies
capability gaps across the team — including in areas such as infrastructure-as-code, AI-assisted operations, container orchestration, security controls, and observability engineering — and develop targeted hiring, upskilling, and cross-training plans that keep the team ahead of organizational demand.
Foster
s
a team culture where every manual process is treated as a temporary state, automation is the permanent solution, and AI tooling is an expected part of how every engineer approaches their work — not an optional enhancement.
Support

ngineering hiring across the broader organization by participating in technical interviews, contributing to DevOps role design, and helping calibrate the infrastructure engineering bar for the engineering organization.
Cloud Infrastructure Operations & Strategy
Own
s
the operational health of the organization's AWS cloud infrastructure — setting the team's standards for provisioning, configuration management, environment consistency, patching cadences, capacity planning, and cost optimization across all environments.
Lead
s
the team's infrastructure-as-code practice — ensuring all AWS resources are defined, versioned, peer-reviewed, and deployed through Terraform or AWS CDK, and that manual infrastructure changes are treated as exceptions that are immediately codified rather than accepted as standard practice.
Drive
s
cloud cost efficiency as a continuous management discipline — working with the team to implement right-sizing, reserved capacity strategies, auto-scaling policies, and resource cleanup automation that maintain performance while controlling cloud spend as the platform scales.
Oversee
s
the team's management of core AWS services — including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, Route 53, IAM, CloudFront, and Auto Scaling Groups — ensuring configurations are standardized, documented, and aligned with the organization's architectural and security standards.
Partner
s
with the Director of DevOps and Network Engineer to ensure infrastructure architecture reflects network security controls, traffic routing policies, and connectivity requirements — operating infrastructure that is reliable and secure at every layer.
CI/CD Pipeline Delivery & Release Operations
Lead
s
the team's delivery of CI/CD pipeline infrastructure — ensuring Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions pipelines are reliable, fast, and maintained to a high standard, and that
E
ngineering teams have the pipeline support they need to ship code confidently and frequently.
Partner
s
with the Release Automation Engineer to ensure infrastructure provisioning, environment configuration, and deployment automation are tightly integrated with the release pipeline — enabling fully automated promotion workflows and holding the team accountable for the infrastructure reliability that automated releases depend on.
Oversee
s
the team's management of artifact repositories, container registries, and deployment automation for containerized services, Lambda functions, ECS tasks, and EKS workloads — ensuring deployment patterns are consistent, traceable, and recoverable across all environments.
Hold
s
the team accountable for pipeline reliability — coaching
E
ngineers to diagnose and eliminate the root causes of flaky pipelines and intermittent infrastructure failures rather than treating them as acceptable operational noise.
Track
s
and report
s
CI/CD performance metrics — including build cycle times, deployment success rates, pipeline failure rates, and deployment frequency — using data to drive continuous improvement in the team's pipeline delivery quality and engineering velocity impact.
AI-Augmented DevOps Operations
Drive
s
the adoption of AI development tools — including Claude Code and Cursor — across the DevOps team's daily workflow, establishing clear norms for AI-assisted infrastructure-as-code authoring, automation script generation, pipeline configuration, and operational documentation that maximize the team's engineering output.
Champion
s
AI-assisted operations as a management discipline — directing the team to integrate AI-powered log analysis, intelligent anomaly detection, automated runbook generation, and LLM-augmented incident analysis into operational workflows that reduce mean time to diagnosis and improve resolution quality.
Use
s
AI to accelerate the team's most demanding infrastructure work — including large-scale infrastructure audit and compliance analysis, automated drift detection, AI-generated capacity planning recommendations, and intelligent alerting configuration — and share effective patterns with engineering leadership.
Evaluate
s
AI-native infrastructure intelligence tools — including AI-assisted deployment risk scoring, predictive scaling, and LLM-powered operational documentation — and make evidence-based recommendations to the Director of DevOps on where AI tooling investments will deliver the highest operational return.
Hold
s
team members accountable for AI tool adoption and proficiency — incorporating AI fluency into performance conversations, development plans, and hiring criteria to ensure the team's capability in AI-augmented DevOps keeps pace with the organization's AI-first engineering direction.
Observability, Monitoring & Incident Response
Lead
s
the team's ownership of infrastructure and application observability — ensuring comprehensive monitoring dashboards, alerting policies, log aggregation, and anomaly detection are in place across the infrastructure stack using Datadog, CloudWatch, SumoLogic, and related tooling.
Hold
s
the team accountable for alert quality — coaching

ngineers to build monitoring that surfaces actionable signals with appropriate urgency rather than generating noise that erodes on-call confidence and response effectiveness.
Own
s
the team's on-call model — managing rotation schedules, escalation paths, and on-call readiness standards, and ensuring every engineer on the team is equipped with the runbooks, tooling access, and AI-assisted investigation capabilities needed to resolve incidents effectively.
Lead

post-incident reviews for infrastructure-related failures — facilitating blameless retrospectives, producing structured root cause analyses, and owning follow-through on corrective actions that improve system resilience and prevent recurrence.
Track

infrastructure reliability metrics — including availability, MTTR, change failure rate, and deployment frequency — reporting trends and improvement actions to the Director of DevOps

Security, Compliance & Access Management
Hold

the team accountable for infrastructure security controls across all AWS environments — including IAM policy governance, security group management, secrets management, encryption standards, vulnerability patching cadences, and compliance with security baselines aligned to NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, and SOC 2.
Ensure

the team conducts regular infrastructure security assessments — reviewing IAM permissions, security group configurations, exposed endpoints, and compliance configurations — and drives timely remediation of identified gaps without exception.

ngineering teams can build services that are operationally sound and reliably deployable.
Collaborate

with the Engineering Systems Manager to ensure CI/CD pipeline configurations and DevOps tooling are governed within Azure DevOps and GitHub with appropriate access controls, standards alignment, and change tracking.
Partner
s
with the Release Workflow Manager on release planning and deployment coordination — ensuring the infrastructure and pipeline capacity required for each release cycle is available, validated, and ready before promotion proceeds.
Represent
s
the DevOps team in
E
ngineering leadership forums — communicating infrastructure health, operational risk, team capacity, and improvement roadmap with the clarity and data-backed specificity that engineering and operations leadership needs.
Manage
s
vendor and tooling relationships relevant to the DevOps infrastructure domain — including monitoring platforms, cloud provider support, and CI/CD tooling — ensuring SLAs are met and escalations are handled with urgency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
6+ years of DevOps or cloud infrastructure engineering experience, including 2+ years in a management role with direct people leadership accountability for a DevOps or

nfrastructure

ngineering team.
Demonstrated track record of leading and developing technical teams — hiring, coaching, performance management, and building high-performance DevOps team culture.
Deep hands-on proficiency with AWS cloud services — including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, Route 53, CloudFront, and Auto Scaling — with demonstrated experience designing and operating production AWS environments at scale.
Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tooling — Terraform and/or AWS CDK required — including the ability to review, guide, and hold the team accountable for IaC quality and consistency.
Proficiency in scripting and automation languages including Python, PowerShell, and Bash — with the technical depth to coach
E
ngineers on automation quality and review automation code produced by the team.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline platforms — Azure DevOps Pipelines and/or GitHub Actions required — including pipeline design, optimization, and troubleshooting at a depth sufficient to lead a team doing this work.
Experience with container technologies including Docker, ECS, and EKS — including image build pipelines, container registry management, and containerized service deployment automation.

Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and on-call leadership skills — able to lead the team through high-pressure production incidents with structure, calm, and effective coordination.

AWS certification at the associate or professional level (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer — Professional).
Experience with configuration management tooling such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack in a production infrastructure environment.
Experience implementing SRE practices including SLOs, error budgets, and chaos engineering within a managed infrastructure team.
Familiarity with Temporal or AWS Step Functions for workflow orchestration in the context of infrastructure automation or deployment pipelines.
Experience with logging and observability tooling including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK), Graylog, Fluent, or equivalent log aggregation platforms.
Experience supporting compliance frameworks including SOC 2, NIST 800-53, or ISO/IEC 27001 — including managing team accountability for control evidence and audit readiness.
Experience evaluating and adopting AI-native infrastructure intelligence tools — including AI-assisted deployment risk scoring, predictive scaling, or LLM-powered operational runbook generation.
