Software Engineer Job Locations US-Washington, D.C. ID 2026-5214 Type Full-Time Clearance Secret Clearance Required Overview i3 has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to support the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division. The TEWD's mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through RDT&E of current and future technologies. Pay Range $122,000 - $204,000 The pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, geographic location, and any applicable laws. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain C/C++ and Python software for radar and RF data acquisition, processing, analysis, automation, and test support. Develop and maintain embedded software for fielded systems and legacy codebases, including data ingestion, calibration, and visualization. Integrate software with laboratory and field instrumentation across Windows and Linux platforms (e.g., USB, TCP/IP, serial). Collaborate with systems engineers, test engineers, and program managers to translate requirements into testable software solutions. Produce technical documentation, test plans, and user guides, supporting lab, shipboard, and field test campaigns as needed. Adhere to security and programmatic requirements for handling classified information and controlled environments. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field. 3+ years of professional engineering experience with strong core programming skills, a positive attitude, and receptivity to technical feedback. Strong proficiency in C/C++ software development for fielded systems and legacy codebase support. Proficiency in Python for scripting, data processing, analysis, and automation. Working experience in Linux and Windows development and test environments. Familiarity with radar and RF engineering concepts, measurement techniques, and terminology. Desired: Experience with embedded software development and real-time systems. Experience using GitLab for version control, CI/CD, and test automation. Experience with signal processing libraries (NumPy, SciPy), data visualization, and lab data formats (HDF5, binary). Prior experience on military programs, specifically U.S. Navy programs. Master’s degree in an engineering discipline. Security Clearance Active Secret clearance.
